We offer CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) and first aid classes four times a year. We also offer special classes depending on need. We can teach your association or organization at one of our fire stations or at your location.
Golden Gate instructors teach American Heart Association classes. Certifications are good for two years.
CPR classes are held the first Saturday of each quarter at Station 71, located at 100 13th St. SW. Classes cost $30. Textbooks are available for students to use during class. The books can also be purchased for $10. Classes typically start at 9 a.m. and run until noon, depending on the size of the class and the type of CPR class taught.

AEDs are devices used to shock victims in cardiac arrest to restore normal heart rhythm, and they are often found at shopping centers, community centers or other public places. They are relatively easy to use because the machine talks you through the process of placing pads on a victim's chest and whether the machine must deliver an electric shock, but training in its use is required.
AED training is done as part of a CPR course because CPR is frequently required in conjunction with the use of an AED.
Many local civic associations, groups and businesses want AEDs installed at their locations. We can help you find and purchase an AED that's right for your location and train you, your neighbors, staff or group members to use it.
