Firefighters Train on Ventilation, WeldingFirefighters avoid cutting through roofs whenever they can to minimize the damage done to structures, but they often do not have a choice.
Golden Gate firefighters recently trained in the use of the K-12 saw and the ventilation saw. They also practiced with a pneumatic air gun and welding torches.
The tools are all potentially necessary, depending on the incidents they encounter and the types of construction materials used on buildings.
The training was done on property off Collier Boulevard near Station 73.
In the top right photo, firefighters use the ventilation saw to cut holes in a tin roof.

Our firefighters train constantly every week to ensure they're ready for any emergency. Training covers multiple aspects of our jobs, from medical emergencies to structure fire suppression.
